Easy Mother’s Day crafts

We’re not all crafting extraordinaires, so if you’re looking for some fun yet easy Mother’s Day crafts, here are a few ideas:

  1. Pretty paper bouquet

Why not give your mum a bunch of flowers she can keep forever, like these from Country Living? All you’ll need is some coloured paper, brown craft paper, paper straws, scissors, and glue. Here’s how to make it:

  • Start by cutting your coloured paper into petal shapes (not forgetting to cut some circular shapes for the flower centres too)
  • Glue these petals together to form your flowers
  • Attach your paper straws to the back to form stems
  • Shape your brown craft paper into a cone to hold your floral creations!

Finally, don’t forget to add a ribbon and a little tag addressed to your mum for the perfect thoughtful gift.

  2. Hand-painted flower pots

Sticking with the flower theme, why not paint some terracotta pots to add a burst of colour to your mum’s spring garden? If you’ve got some plain pots lying around outside, bring these in and give them a good scrub, or head to your local garden centre to pick up a couple of new ones.

Once you’ve got your pots at the ready, pop the kettle on, grab some acrylic paints, and get creative! From bees to rainbows and bright floral patterns, anything goes. And if the weather’s on your side, take your crafting outdoors and soak up some sunshine while you paint.

Mother’s Day craft ideas for adults

Looking for some crafts that you and your mum can enjoy doing together? Just settle down to an afternoon of fun with either of the below:

  3. Create a scrapbook

Take a trip down memory lane by creating the ultimate Mother’s Day scrapbook. Ask your mum to dig out some special keepsakes, we’re thinking photos, cards, recipes, and any other sentimental scraps she’s held onto.

Next, grab pens, paints, ribbons, and buttons, and get stuck into decorating the pages exactly as you wish. You could even make an evening of it—crack open a bottle of wine, indulge in your favourite snacks, and chat the night away.

  4. DIY jewellery

Personalised jewellery makes for a beautiful and meaningful Mother’s Day keepsake. Just head to your local craft store and pick up whatever beads and charms catch your eye, not forgetting to grab some wires and clasps too.

Once you’re home, set up your crafting station and get to work on creating your very own bracelets and necklaces.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, you could have a go at making some metal stamped washer bracelets like these from Club Crafted! You’ll need a few more supplies, but they’re certainly worth all the hard work.

Mother’s Day crafts for kids

Looking for craft ideas that are perfect for little hands? Kids are bound to enjoy the following, and happy kids = happy mum.

  5. Thumbprint butterfly mugs

To make these adorable butterfly mugs from The Best Ideas for Kids, all you’ll need are some plain white mugs and enamel acrylic paint.

Start by helping little ones dip their thumb into a pot of paint, then carefully stamp it onto the mug (staying 1-2 inches away from the top). Do the same four more times to create the butterflies’ wings, then repeat the full process as many times as you like!

Allow the mug to fully dry, or bake it at a low temperature (according to the acrylic’s instructions), and you’ve got yourself the perfect homemade Mother’s Day present!  Kids will have tons of fun getting messy, and most importantly, mum will have a new go-to mug.

  6. Customised photo frames

For another easy craft idea, grab a few wooden photo frames and let the kids go wild with customisation-buttons, feathers, paints, and glitter (and anything else you have lying around in your craft drawer).

Set up your decorations in small bowls, then encourage the kids to design their very own Mother’s Day photo frames. Once they’re all done, let the frames dry and fill them with mum’s favourite memories.

Looking for something a little less messy? Check out these DIY lolly stick frames from A Few Short Cuts. Bright, bold, and eye-catching, they’ll certainly brighten up mum’s fridge!
