Creative things to do at home

So, you’ve got a full day at home ahead of you and you’re wondering how to fill your time. Well, why not seize the opportunity to channel your creative side?

   1. Get stuck into some arts and crafts

Up first, we have the option of dedicating a few hours to getting stuck into some arts and crafts. You could make your own scrapbook, gathering old pictures, stickers, and receipts to display your treasured memories. Or why not give making DIY photo frames a go?

The possibilities are endless with this, so simply pick something you know you’ll enjoy and dive in with no expectations other than to have fun!

   2. Channel your inner baker

From vanilla and raspberry mascarpone cakes to more simple brownies and sugar cookies, why not spend the day baking up a storm in the kitchen? Have a quick search for a recipe that makes your mouth water, then grab your ingredients and get baking.

This can be fun for kids of all ages, so if you’re at home all day with the little ones, make sure to get them involved! Plus, you’ll have some (hopefully) delicious treats to enjoy by the end of it all.

Solo things to do at home

A completely solo day can seem daunting to some, but to others, it’s their idea of absolute heaven. Either way, if you’re spending the entire day home alone, here are a couple of options to keep you entertained:

   3. Have a movie marathon or a readathon

Finally got the whole day to yourself after an action-packed week of work, family commitments, and socialising? If so, it’s time to settle down to a day of doing well… nothing.

Perhaps you’re yet to see that movie everyone’s been going on about, or you’re more in the mood for that film you’ve already seen a million times? Either way, put on your comfiest clothes, grab some snacks, and press play. Or why not tackle that reading list that’s as long as your arm? Now’s the perfect time to cosy up and make a dent in it.

   4. Change up your décor

If you’re stuck inside and feeling a bit antsy, why not give your kitchen, living room, or bedroom a little makeover? We’re not talking a full-scale renovation (as this will require a little more time and an extra pair of hands) but instead give things a tidy and do some reorganising.

Rearrange your shelves, fluff your pillows, give your plants a much-needed water, and if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, dig out some paint and colour drench a wall! Oh, and don’t forget to hang some fairy lights for a final touch of cosiness.

Fun things to do at home with friends

Got a free house and plans to invite all your pals over? Here are a couple of ideas on how you can have tons of fun without leaving the house:

   5. Plan your next adventure

So, it’s a rainy day and you and your mates have nowhere to go? Well, there’s no better time to get stuck into planning your next adventure! Whether you’re in the mood for an Italian road trip or a quick weekend getaway in the spring, dig out some pens and paper and start planning.

Put one pal on flight duty, one on accommodation, and the other on excursions, then book everything there and then if you’re feeling spontaneous. Looking for something that won’t break the bank? Get a day trip, concert, or musical booked in instead!

   6. Host a dinner party

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a gifted cook or a bit of a novice, simply pick some dishes you’d like to have a crack at preparing then get started. Once the food prep’s all done, it’s time to create ambiance by setting the table, lighting some candles, and pressing play on your favourite playlist.

After all, taking a few hours to do a spot of self-care can sometimes be exactly what we need.

   8. Try some living room yoga

For a slightly more energetic (but still relaxing option) why not try a bit of at-home yoga? You’ll find plenty of beginner-friendly videos online, so all you’ll need to do is push your coffee table aside, lay a mat, and throw yourself into it.
