Pack your favourite teddy bears<\/h2>\n
The stars of the whole event \u2013 what\u2019s a teddy bear\u2019s picnic without the teddy bears themselves? Help your kids choose who gets to attend the picnic.<\/p>\n
Just make sure you have a list of all the bears that are taken so you can make sure everyone is accounted for when you leave! The last thing anyone wants is a teddy bear left behind.<\/p>\n
Teddy bear picnic checklist<\/h2>\n
Aside from the obvious teddy bear as mentioned above, there are some other things you\u2019re going to want to pack for the day.<\/p>\n
To make your life as easy as possible, we\u2019ve actually compiled a mini teddy bear picnic checklist that you can use to ensure you\u2019ve got everything ready to go:<\/p>\n

- A picnic blanket that will fit everyone and their cuddly friends<\/li>\n
- Picnic food and drinks (we\u2019ll delve more into that later on!)<\/li>\n
- Plates, cups, and cutlery<\/li>\n
- Napkins, plastic bags, and wipes to tidy up<\/li>\n
- Any extras for activities or party games (again, we\u2019ll be touching on this further down in the blog!)<\/li>\n
- Something to play music on as well as a specially curated playlist for the day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Bring some classic teddy bear picnic food<\/h2>\n
Controversial take, but we reckon picnic food is the best kind of food. Who doesn\u2019t love a picky lunch with plenty of classic British treats, sweets and snacks? A teddy bear\u2019s picnic is no exception. While you might want to keep it simple for smaller kids with a pickier palate, the grown-ups at the party may want something a bit more substantial.<\/p>\n
Some great teddy bear picnic food ideas are:<\/p>\n
- \n
- Sandwiches (if you can find a teddy-bear shaped sandwich cutter, then even better!)<\/li>\n
- Biscuits and cupcakes<\/li>\n
- Plenty of sliced fruit or easy-to-pack fruit like tangerines<\/li>\n
- Classic snack food like sausage rolls and pork pies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Feeling a little bit fancier? Why not get the whole family involved with baking some treats inspired by famous teddy bears?<\/p>\n
Pooh bear honey cakes<\/h3>\n
One of the most-loved teddy bears is the lovely Winnie the Pooh from the Hundred Acre Wood. His habit of eating honey straight from the jar isn\u2019t the most nutritious, so instead make these cute and easy honey cakes from\u00a0My Healthy Dish<\/a>!<\/p>\n
Paddington\u2019s marmalade loaf<\/h3>\n
Take inspiration from another famous and beloved teddy bear: Paddington Bear! If you don\u2019t feel like eating Paddington\u2019s favourite treat – pure marmalade sandwiches, from underneath his hat \u2013 then try this tasty recipe for marmalade loaf cake instead.<\/p>\n
For the marmalade loaf:<\/h4>\n
- \n
- 120g softened unsalted butter<\/li>\n
- 100g sugar<\/li>\n
- 2 eggs<\/li>\n
- 170g self-raising flour<\/li>\n
- 3 tablespoons milk<\/li>\n
- 3 tablespoons marmalade<\/li>\n
- 1 orange, grated zest<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
For marmalade icing:<\/h4>\n
- \n
- 1 tablespoon marmalade<\/li>\n
- 50g icing sugar<\/li>\n
- 1 tablespoon water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Directions<\/h4>\n
- \n
- Preheat oven to 160\u00b0C, and line a loaf tin with baking parchment.<\/li>\n
- Beat the butter and sugar together until combined and fluffy<\/li>\n
- Beat in the eggs, and sift in half the flour. Add the milk, marmalade, orange zest and mix together, then pour into the loaf tin.<\/li>\n
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, until golden brown and firm to the touch, or until a skewer or knife poked into the cake comes out clean.<\/li>\n
- Leave to cool for 5 minutes in the tin, then turn out onto a wire rack to finish cooling.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Wondering what to do to keep everyone occupied during the picnic, or looking for some fun activities to do before or after the main event? Here are a few teddy bear\u2019s picnic party ideas for things to do.<\/p>\n
Go \u2018in disguise\u2019<\/h3>\n
As the words to the song say, \u2018if you go down to the woods today, you\u2019d better go in disguise\u2019 \u2013 so remind the kids that they\u2019ll need to be disguised as bears in order to blend in and join the picnic! Draw on a little black nose, and make or buy some teddy bear ears \u2013\u00a0Tea Time Monkeys<\/a>\u00a0has a great printable template for ear headbands.<\/p>\n
Teddy bear singalong<\/h3>\n
Lead your picnic group in a singalong of the classic song \u2018The Teddy Bear\u2019s Picnic\u2019! Did you know the song dates back to 1907? It might be a stretch for little ones to learn the whole song, so maybe just teach them the main chorus, or print out the lyrics so they can read along!<\/p>\n
Teddy bear face paint<\/h3>\n
Get some face paints and paint everyone up like their favourite teddy bear. If your little one has a varied choice for teddy bears, you can really flex your creative muscles \u2013 think lions, tigers, plus bears (oh my). But even if you\u2019re just sticking to bears, you\u2019ve still got plenty of scope \u2013 Panda bear? Koala? Polar bear? Or just a classic brown bear? The only limit is, um, your ability to paint a recognisable bear face on a squirming child\u2019s face using thick face paint. Good luck.<\/p>\n
