And no, originally, we didn\u2019t know that was a thing either, but that\u2019s why we\u2019re here to help.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inspired by our new partnership with Nyetimber, home to some of the finest sparkling wines in Britain, we\u2019ve created a list of ultimate wine pairings. So if you\u2019re ready to get your wine snob on, then let us suggest a few classic pairings for your next wine night that are bound to impress your friends and show off your sophistication.<\/span><\/p>\n

Steak and a Cabernet Sauvignon<\/b><\/h2>\n

There\u2019s no better companion to a truly fine grilled steak than a robust, bold glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. The char on a perfectly cooked steak pairs well with red wine as it the tannins refresh the palette between bites, and a good red wine will stand up to steak without overpowering it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mushrooms and Pinot Noir<\/b><\/h2>\n

The cherry and raspberry notes in a fine Pinot Noir pair perfectly with earthy flavours \u2013 so anything savoury and rich, like mushrooms or truffles, is bound to be a winner. We\u2019d suggest serving a glass with a main like these mushroom and sage stuffed spatchcocks with a cream truffle sauce from<\/span> Delicious<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fish and Pinot Grigio<\/b><\/h2>\n

A classic pairing \u2013 any light seafood or fish-based dish is bound to be perfectly complemented by a deliciously crisp and cold glass of Pinot Grigio. The subtle flavour of the wine will help to play up the delicate flavour of seafood. Now just sit back, close your eyes, and pretend you\u2019re on a beach in Southern France being served fish fresh from the ocean.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spicy food and a dry Ros\u00e9\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

A proper dry ros\u00e9 is versatile. There are so many kinds of ros\u00e9, most of which can stand up to big flavours like anchovies and garlic, but for our money, a really good dry rose pairs best with a little bit of heat. Spicy food and ros\u00e9 are a great pairing \u2013 so whether your taste is for Thai, Indian, or Spanish cuisine, you can show off your cooking skills <\/span>and<\/span><\/i> impress with your wine choice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Light nibbles and sparkling wine<\/b><\/h2>\n

For a classic sampling spread, or a British al fresco picnic, your perfect pairing is a crisp, sparkling wine \u2013 a fresh, easy glass to drink with nibbles and canapes (might we recommend a bottle of Nyetimber\u2019s signature classic cuvee?). The fresh taste and fruity aromas will make a perfect match with light bites like salmon blinis and sandwiches, and will even pair nicely with fruit and strawberries.<\/span><\/p>\n
